A proper cold

baby-decor-new-arrivals-blue-brown-tissue-box-untitled.jpg-2300We thought the little one had had a cold before but apparently not, those were just the snuffles and sniffles.

The cold that started last week however was much more like the proper thing. The poor little boy was totally full of snot (or nasal effluence as I like to call it) that made sleeping quite an unpleasant experience.

And maybe he is just a fussy boy but he is stunningly good at twisting and turning and bursting into tears at the very sight of a tissue to try to clean up his face. But clean we must.

So he’s not been sleeping well, so we aren’t either, and he’s not been eating well either.

Tis not much fun for the Easter weekend!

More friendship failure

So many things have happened to fully take up my time that I have once again been absolutely awful at keeping up with friends.

Bad, bad me.  I shall try to do better – when I have a moment….

Getting somethings done

My GTD system has gone out of the window to a certain degree.  I am still collecting (most of) my to-do’s in a single place which I can access in lots of places, but in getting them done it’s not so good as I chase the completion of a couple of projects.

I promise myself things will get back on track.

In fact I should create a project for that!

Stand-up on such a backburner

Stand-up, comedy writing – all of that stuff has fallen onto the backburner, and slipped down the back of it.

Pity.

Friends

Still being shit at being in contact with friends.  Bad me.

Doing the book

I’m still reading Making It All Work (don’t ask about my reading habits!) and am near the end so am slowly adding the different Horizons of Focus into my tasks. I’m really liking the ideas behind them, they do complete the “Clear Mind” philosophy of GTD.

Now gotta get that book finished!

Arrggghh!

Look I know that I am barely making any progress on these things, but give me a bit more time!  This driving thing is so dependent on time and money, both of which are at very low levels at the moment.

But I know I need to learn to drive.  On Sunday my son was crying uncontrollably for about 2/3 hours and we ended up taking him to A&E at 1am Monday morning,  We were there until 7am.  The burden of driving was on the other half.  That shouldn’t be the case.

More work happening

So things are potentially hotting up on the self-employment front – a few more people asking me about stuff that will hopefully turn into work. And the project that I have been working looks like it will finally produce some money – the company have finalised their funding and so my cheque should follow!

Fingers crossed it all goes well.  Or maybe I should just work on it?

Maybe 2011?

The prospect of marriage seems to be drifting further into the future.  Not for any relationship reason – but more financially, that horrible reason that dogs me from day-to-day, week-to-week, year-to-year.

We aren’t looking for anything huge, but something nice and tasteful.  But still it costs money.

This delay makes me feel bleurgh!

9 weeks

So we are at 9 weeks into fatherhood now – well 8 weeks and 6 days to be exact, but hey who is counting!

We finally decided on a name at the last minute before we got anymore letters from the Council’s legal dept….

All in all it isn’t going too bad really we have been entering a much nicer period where he sleeps for 8/9 hours at night which is a godsend really.  He’s got colic still which is causing some grumpy evenings and he generally doesn’t start his 8/9 hours of sleep until 1am which is not so good.

It’s fun so far – I need to try and use some GTD to make sure that in the times while he is asleep/calm then I can do the important work.  But that is for another entry!
